Obituary

Roger Lon Emch passed away peacefully at Doylestown Hospice on May 21st, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. He was 77 years old and had suffered from Parkinson’s disease for several years.

Lon was born on August 19th, 1948 in Youngstown, Ohio to Georgia and Merle Emch. After graduating from Liberty High School where he had been an enthusiastic cross country runner and basketball player, he attended the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Upon graduation from the Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree on June 3rd, 1970 he joined the United State Marine Corps and proudly served his country for twenty years. Lon served with distinction in multiple postings in the USA and overseas, successfully meeting all challenges and earning recognition with the award of medals and commendations. He also earned a Master of Science degree in Strategic Intelligence. He retired from the Corps in 1990 with the rank of Major.

With his extensive experience in technology Lon joined Elliston, Inc in New Hope, Pa and set about bringing them into the computer age. He set up, managed and maintained systems, trained personnel, developed data bases for both the company’s administrative and investigative activities and participated in litigation support work conducted for clients. He was always quick to volunteer to help with anything else that was needed in what was a relatively small company; including snow shoveling, shifting through boxes of documents, and mopping up after a flood.

Lon was a well regarded and much loved friend and colleague of all who knew and worked with him. His quiet sense of humor was infectious and his lunchtime half marathon runs “just for fun” were a source of wonder and admiration by everyone. Always the Marine!

Lon was dedicated to and adored his family and is survived by his wife Barbara, children, Whitney Emch, Victoria Mays (and her husband Sean), Ben Emch (and his wife Mindy) and grandchildren, Isaac Mays, Emma Mays, Benson Emch, Davis Emch, Elinor Emch and Reed Emch. Also surviving are Lon’s sister Rita of Casper, Wyoming and many other family members and friends all of whom feel privileged to have been part of his life.

Lon’s family are deeply grateful to the many doctors, nurses and specialists for the care given to him during his illness and in hospice.

Lon will be interred at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery on June 29th, 2026.
