Joan Barbara (nee Mott) Rush was born in Philadelphia in 1932 to Wiliam John Mott and Bessie (nee Schneider) Mott.
A lifelong Kensington resident, Joan attended Horatio B. Hackett Elementary School, Penn Treaty Middle School, and Kensington High School for Girls.
For most of her adult life, Joan worked for the School District of Philadelphia, retiring as head secretary at Penn Treaty School.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Rush Jr., and her siblings, Claire Beck, Virginia "Jean" Mott, and John Mott; she is survived by her son, William J. Rush, III, and by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews, In-laws John and Mary Rush, Cheryl and Frank Ott.
Joan loved animals, flowers, old movies, and family. She died peacefully in her sleep after spending the previous day watching an old movie with her beloved son, with a cat on her lap and flowers on her windowsill.
Viewing at McBride's Wednesday, 9/4, 9-10:30 a.m., folowed by burial at Oakland Cemetery.
